OWVFD tries new direction with SDCFA and CALFIRE
SDCFA (San Diego County Fire Authority) on July 8th hand delivered a "Transition Plan and Exit Strategy for Ocotillo Wells". While posting the exact details here would not be prudent. OWVFD has been told if we follow these guidelines, that CALFIRE would leave our district in 2 to 12 weeks. The main thrust of the plan is for OWVFD to cooperate with SDCFA and CALFIRE. The following items list the areas OWVFD believes it has demonstrated its willingness to cooperate:

   1)Signed SDCFA service contract.
   2)Maintained County approved volunteer staffing since July 1st 2009. In fact OWVFD has delivered the requested move, up, and cover staffing since June 11, 2008.
   3)Loaned CALFIRE operations in OWVFD district our newest and most expensive fire engine. Let it be noted this engine was originally supplied to OWVFD by the County Of San Diego.
   4)Amended web content to reflect a more positive outlook.
